The Amur Plate is a tectonic plate located in northeast Asia. It covers an area of about 5.5 million square kilometers and includes parts of China, Russia, Mongolia, North Korea, and South Korea. The plate is bordered by the Eurasian Plate to the west, the Philippine Plate to the southeast, and the Okhotsk Plate to the northeast. The Amur Plate is named after the Amur River, which flows through southeastern Russia and northeast China. The plate is believed to have formed during the Late Jurassic period, about 152 million years ago, and is currently moving in a northward direction at a rate of about 2.8 centimeters per year. The Amur Plate is seismically active and has experienced a number of significant earthquakes, including the 2011 earthquake in northeastern Japan.
